Have a good Father's Day everyone!

Hope you're on the mend Mrs. ND. Joe, take care of your mom. I bet you'll see glass on that new .308 before you know it.

Never thought I needed a 223 beings I have a 220 swift and a 22-250. But all I hear about lately is how dangerous and powerful they are. War machines etc.

All because of the AR platform supposedly. I'm really not one to buy into hype like that because I feel like I know better. But I guess I didn't always know about chicken bucks, flying bears, swamp squids either. Maybe an AR is the right rifle to battle swamp squids?

I seriously thought it might be something like a guitar gun that i would need for bringing swampy down.

Something clever here.

I don't have a big desire to have an AR but many they're fun to shoot!

Jack uses a .223 Ruger American Compact for his deer rifle. We have a blast shooting that.

I sighted in my new CZ 452 22lr on Saturday. Man what a little shooter that gun is! I'm going to have a lot of fun with that me thinks.

Now for the downside. I shot my Ruger 10/22 afterwards to see if the scope was still on and realized for the first time how crappy them triggers are. eek

After shooting the CZ, the Ruger felt like I was trying to pull an elephant through a woodpecker hole!

Dave,

Just caught up on your weekend adventures, via the birthday thread.

Firstly, hoping Pam's recovering & no complications !

Secondly, happy Birthday !

Thirdly, saw you were storm watching yesterday. Hopefully the hail missed you. 40km west of us (Vermilion Bay) got belted with golf ball sized stuff & lots of tree & some structure damage.

Those CZ .22's are a sweet little rifle Rooster!

The 452, 453 and 455's all shoot well. My son has a 452 like yours and I have a 453 with a set trigger. Despite what some say on here, the triggers on the CZ's are pretty darn nice. The set trigger on my 453 is really, really nice....

I didn't see any problems with the 452 trigger at all other than it made me realize how bad the trigger is on my 10/22 grin

Dave, I'm thinkin' you need to go big or go home with the dreaded swamp squids. I'm thinking at least a .600 Nitro Express. If the ammo is less than $10.00 per round it's just too darned small........

Have they got .600 Nitro on an AR platform yet?

Better go Ackley Improved too.

45-70 will get the job done.

The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70,it's almost a religion.

If you have to take a second shot then you probably shouldn't have taken the first shot.

If you want to stick with the AR platform, the .458 SOCOM would make a nice hammer. That should put the hurt on flying bears and the like.
