I don't know folks that think that, but I've never seen making a rifle to meet your specs as a bad thing.

Remington 721 30-06 made in 1959.....is amazingly accurate and smooth. Other than the butt pad it's pure factory. Great gun.

When I think stock, I consider the gun as it was marketed and that would be sans scope...

Mornin' Shrap,

I hear what you are sayin’, but if I were to go back and add irons to these stock factory rifles, then they would no longer be “stock” IMHO.

Didn’t have dead animal pix for these two

Remington 700 CDL, SF, LTD, 75th Anniversary 257 Roberts

And last but not least, a pix I found from circa 1990 that I scanned in. I had been calling in crows and one lit on a limb about 175 yds. down the easement I was set up on. I winged him and he dropped. While he was laying there flapping, this coyote happened to run out of the brush and grabbed the bird. So I nailed him also. Been so long ago I don’t remember the exact model of the rifle. Laminated Varmint Synthetic or something to that effect.

If it's factory drilled for scope mount, then it's still factory with a scope.
