They are all post mils anyways.

For some reason I am thinking the C because of the usefulness and utility of the clip.

I have a mint C all suited up with a Leupold just waiting for its first trip to the range. I just need for June to be over with so I can go. Looking at this C, this one holds together well. Clip comes out cleanly. The tang safety adjusts crispy. Trigger is pretty darn decent compared to my other 99s. I hope she shoots well. Also have an extra 284 clip.

DL would be my first choice... unless I could get my hands on the 99C in 284 that I first deer hunted with.

I have .284's in F and DL. Norm is getting me a receiver to build a C, but it may end up a 6.5-284. I prefer the DL by a landslide. I found the DL with cut checkering, a one year rifle, so I won't hunt it.

I have a 284C. The function of the box magazine is convenient for hunting farm country, drop the clip, open the lever, walk down the road. Unloading at the end of the day and stashing the full box magazine for the next morning is also convenient.

My 99 traditional-self is all about the functional beauty of the rotary magazine, so I'd like to get a 284F someday.

Ultimately my attraction to the 284win has turned to bolt guns with a 3-1/8" magazine capacity. I get to use the full potential of the caliber at the longer overall length. My 99 in 284 might as well be a 7mm-08, they perform the same for me.

What I REALLY want is 7mm-08 EG.

Roy, I too have a 99C receiver, and a couple 284 magazines waiting for my motivation to improve. But I think I'll do a 6mm-284 or 25-284, just to get better use out of the limited 2.8" max OAL.

Honestly, NONE of the above.

Cut checkered 284 DL or F and a pre war checkered F are the only 2 guns I am still interested in finding.

Have a 1964F with cut checkering and it will have to do until something better comes along like 1899 CD Deluxe. GW

If you don't have one, the 99PEs usually have pretty nice wood.
