I have a bud that wants to start going with me to the mid-West to hunt whitetails. I use a T/C Omega that I purchased 5-6 yrs. ago. What is a simple to load and clean muzzleloader out there for deer hunting.
PASS IT ON!

Simple and cheap
CVA Optima V2 with a Blackhorn breach plug and firing pin shim kit. That will run about $300 plus a scope. Its also nice and light.

Being new to muzzleloading (only ever shot them twice)I didn't want to spend a lot. The 3 I considered were the CVA Wolf,T/C Impact, and the Traditions Buck Stalker. All seemed to be equal in ease of use, reliability, and accuracy potential. As far as ease of cleaning goes BH209 is our friend. I went with the T/C because of the adjustable LOP.

Pretty much any of the break-open guns will give you what you are asking for. With BH209 they are very easy to load and clean. I have 4 Traditions break-open guns, a T/C Triumph and T/C Black Diamond. The Traditions Pursuit XLT's are my favorites to hunt with.

Be a real pal and find him a nice used Omega. BH209 ready, no extra breech plugs or shimming required plus you're already familiar with it so you don't have to learn a new system while you're showing him the ropes.

Go with a used T/C of any sort. You can't go wrong. I shoot an Encore.

As said above you can't go wrong with a TC or an older Knight like the MK85. I have had several muzzlelaoders but my TC Omega has got a permanent home. free upload pictures

I was impressed with my cousins new TC Impact (239dollars)and Blackhorn 209 powder. I like the breeching lever being on top and not underneath where it could be snagged and the action break open while walking in cover.
The Impact shot almost as well as my NEF Sidekick with aftermarket breech plug, which is just a tack driving muzzleloader using BH209. The NEF has now been discontinued.
Take your kids and your grand kids huntin' and shootin'.

I have used many of the above over the past decade or so. I settled on a SS Omega and have purchased the newer TC Impact for family members as gifts. Simple and the 4 I have been around have been quite accurate with moderate BH209 charges and common 200/240/250 bullet/sabot combos

I picked up a Knight DISC Extreme for about $200 a few years ago that I really like, but cleaning can be a bit of a PITA as breech plug removal isn't as easy as some of the newer break-action style muzzleloaders.

I recently sold my Knight DE to a bud. It shoots great, has great trigger. I don't find cleaning difficult at all.....
