Bought a Savage 101 single shot 22 at a gun show this past weekend. It is a 5 digit serial #, in original box. Metal is probably 95% and grips are excellent other than a couple of small handling marks. Can' seem to find a lot of info on it and would appreciate any help on where to look.

Very cool. I don't know much about the 101 and they don't seem to be talked about much. But I do hope that someone in the know does does chime in. Do you have any pictures?

That's a good refresher on the subject. I don't think it was stated but there are two different boxes.

PHWILLIE, what is your serial#? Do you have paper work with your box?

Thanks for the info. Serial# is 19497. Box is in excellent shape. Interesting note; penciled on the corner of box is 19.95 with 17,50 under it. The original wrapping paper is in the box along with 10 commandments of gun safety but no gun specific paperwork.

If you have more specific questions, try asking on www.savagesingleshots.com. The guy who runs that website has a book out, mainly on 219/220s, that has a chapter on the 101.

Is the 101 mainly made of Zamac? Is the bore a steel liner? Never handled on of those.

Honestly, while these are interesting to a Savage collector, I don't see much quality nor utility in them.

The box is as interesting as the pistol to me.
