was reading the article in the nra mag shilling for the browning pistol.
it's kind of funny the length some writers go to to build up some gun.
as in talking about all the larger amounts of energy the 380 has compared to 25acp, like anyone seriously carries a 25acp.
read the article and said to myself, that cz83 i paid about two bucks for has half again as much mag capacity, single and double action, and steel at that.

The Browning .380 is kind of a weird gun. I can see it for someone rather small statured but for 99% of shooters out there, it's a gun that makes no sense to me.

Read the same article in the rifleman magazine. What a biased article, not just the build-up of the .380, but also the lengthy pimping of the gun... it was like he was writing an ad for Browning.

Apparently the only good thing about NRA reviews is the accuracy testing; five 5-shot strings at 25 yards for handguns.

It's called writing for ad copy. Or, as opposed to "pimping" as you describe, it's perhaps better to call it "whoring".

I take a number of gun related mags, and am in touch with some of the writers that use to appear, that actually knew what they were talking about
As opposed to the new breed that are mostly shilling for some product made by a company that paid enough to get the product mentioned in the ad.
It gets silly at times.
I have nothing against the pistol per se, if they think they can sell them, fine.
I said 2bucks for the cz83, incorrect, my sticky keyboard. But about 230bucks, single/double action, larger mag, steel gun and works like a dream.
I think the pup that wrote the article was stretching.

Would interest me if they could do a staggered mag 9mm. Maybe 10-12 rounds total, keep the grip reasonably thin. This one is expensive for a toy with no purpose.

That's called a Browing Hi-Power; 13 round magazine.

Thats why I chose a smaller mag. This would be a smaller, lighter gun. The hickok45 link said under twenty oz. If possible it would be one hell of a light, thin, reasonably high cap, good triggered, carry gun.

An alloy frame BHP. Done. Or, a LW Commander in 9x19 or .38Super. Done.

Did you check the link? This looks smaller amd lighter. May not be pssible, high cap may never appear. My idea woud be slightly bigger than a G43, with more capacity than G26, and a better trigger. Not a bad place to be, of course comparing any 1911 to a Glock puts me in a dangerous place. I do like your 38Super though. Have been pondering it in an alloy Commander.

You like to post pics. of that unobtanium. Dont blame you it is probably a neat gun. Always liked the P7, only ever shot one a few times, if they were lighter and cheaper they would be as popular as the G19. Please do mot take offense to the glock statement.

The Browning article was interesting to me, mainly because the frame was completely polymer with a steel mono block (ala the XD) molded in. I wonder if this is a precursor to a 1911 with dimensionally identical frame to the 1911?

Has anyone tried out the Springfield EMP in 9mm?

The EMP is a standard sized 1911 made shorter. The Browning 1911 .380 is an 80% sized gun.

Actually, no, it is not. It is a smaller frame.

Not bad for a 380, performance-wise. 80gr TAC-XP over 1300 fps. 100gr Hardcast 1168 fps.

Under 18 oz including empty magazine.

Kind of pricey. You'd think it would include two magazines.

Having a locked breech, lighter spring might make slide operation easier for some folks.
