As a new owner of an AR15 and having a Dillon 650 I need some tips to get this Dillon pumping out ammo.

I've only used it to load a single handgun cartridge to date.

What are the best or most typically successful powders? Prefer ball powder for the progressive powder drop. Hopefully this is a good option. I've not set up this Dillon in years now. Gotta think back about how to swap in set of 223 dies as well!

25.0 grains of H335 with a 52-55gr bullet is a classic load. I'm beginning to use CFE223 because of it appears to me to be relatively temperature stable and I like it's copper fouling eraser properties. It also produces higher velocities.

I burned tons of H-322 and H-335 in the past, and loved it in a Ruger 1B .223. Now I'm loading for an AR and am really liking CFE223. Only problem is I can't seem to spot it in jugs, only one pounders.

I think there is something to this CFE223, with those of you adding this here. Then also what I've heard from a few others. It seems to be the top choice right now. about 250 rounds per pound too.

Like was said TAC would be my first choice.

I have loaded a lot with H-322 and had a good time shooting them up.

I reload with a rockchucker press so i don't have to worry about powder feeding.

Good luck

TAC.

Also had some luck with LT-32 and Benchmark.

While the 650 can certainly load a lot of 223 ammo there will be some things to watch for.

First, be certain to go back to the manual on the setup of the case feed station. There are some changes that need made going to rifle from pistol.

The other thing that I got very tired of was the splash effect on the powder. I always used ball powder as it goes through the measure much better but would have that stuff all over the place. There are some mods that can help this.

You will like the quantities of ammo that can be pushed through the 650....

I would love to try some TAC, but the LGS, even though wonderfully stocked with any powder under the sun, never has any. I guess I gotta go the mail order/hazmat route for some which frosts my balls because I don't need any other powders/primers to justify the hazmat over a small order of TAC.

Tac is good powder, make it worth your while when you order. Once you start using it you will probably wish you had ordered more in the first place....

Thanks for the insight, I know about the "splash" with the indexing. I was loading straight wall handgun cases with nearly a full case, I think I must have had several rounds of powder in the rotating shell holder by the time I loaded a few hundred rounds.

I took off about a half coil of the indexing spring and it nearly stopped that problem. I have to change out quite a bit of the gear to switch from large primer handgun to small primer rifle. It's been so long since I adjusted or set anything I cannot recall how it's all done. Time to crack open the book and watch a you tube video!

Yep. TAC is the berries in my AR-15 and my bolt action 223.

Not to be redundant, but TAC is also my first choice, and I have gone through 3 eight lb kegs of it.I always like to have at least one 8 pounder in reserve. Backup options are Accurate 2230, Accurate 2015, H-335, and Benchmark.
