Getting ready for the Quemado get together. Got a few loaded today. the blue solids are 350 gr bullts in font of 12.5 gr of AA9, the hollow points are 270 gr bullets in front of 13.5 gr of AA7. Looking forward to empting them.

Just for fun I emptied all the 270 gr HPs into one big box and just grabbed and loaded without looking what colour I was grabbing.

Dang Scott. You were mighty busy during my nap. Those look good. I assume your reference to the "Quemado get together" means Quemado, New Mexico? What is going on there besides forest fires near by?

Thanks a bunch Scott, but I don't have a camper, it's a long way over there from north Georgia, and it's gonna be hot over there. My hat is off to all of yawl who put on these events. I used to do it at a hunting camp in south Mississippi, but it just got to be too much work, so I had to quit doing it. But we did it for about 10 or 12 years. It involved four different cannon shooting teams, a half dozen mortar shooting teams, and a bunch of pistol and rifle shooters. We BBQ'd a whole hog and ate very well, played guitars and sang around the camp fire and had a very large time. I wish you all the best on the upcoming event. Sounds like fun.

The camp is at 7,700 foot elevation. You will want a jacket in the mornings and evenings. It is a 24 hour drive time for us. With our little trailer needing five grand of repair and the parts not being available for months we will be tent camping or sleeping in the car but it is still worth it.

it is warm middle of afternoon, but that's about it. could expect light rain drizzles most afternoons. I have taken a trailer, a tent, and actually they have a hotel close by.
i have known some guys, like scott F, that slept on a cot under a tarp lean to tied to the truck.
elk all over the place, as well as other denizens of the forest.
we have people that come from arkansas, montana, oregon, and lot of other places i can think of.
A really wide bunch of life experiences, and worth the time.
Get to play with a wide variety of firearms, sometimes some of them quite rare.
I think there are more elk in that county than people by the way.

Just looked it up on Mapquest. It says it's 1575 miles from here. I'd like to see you boys, but I don't want to see you that dam bad. grin I can't see to drive at night anymore so it would take three days to drive out there. I used to do that to hunt out that way, but that was 40 years ago in a Galaxy far, far away.
