Searched for a while and found out some Tikka 25-06 s are finicky about factory loads.

My other 25-06 s liked Fed Seirra GK 119s but they are expensive...picked up some Hornady Amer WT 117..hope it shoots well cause it is farily cheap around here.

Anybody ever used Hornady AWT in a tikka 25-06?

My Tikka 25-06 has never seen anything but handloads, RL22 & 110NABs. However, a friend of mine owns the same rifle and he has told me his loves the Hornady Superformance 117 SST factory stuff. If you don't have any luck with what you have, you may want to try some of that.

When I had 25-06's in Tikka & Sako A7 both liked my handloaded 100gr and 115gr. TSX's. This was before the tipped version was popular.

My current 25-06 is a Forbes 24B and it is the same. When breaking it in I tried multiple factory loads. Barnes Tipped and Federal Premium copper and Hornady Whitetail shot so-so BUT a box of now discontinued Federal Premium TSX's shot bug holes!

I don't have a 25-06 or a Tikka, but a buddy has been dropping deer for decades with his 25-06 and plain old 100 gr core-lok store bought ammunition, I don't ever remembering him asking me to help him find a shot deer or pig.

I'll bet it would like the 100 grain Vor-TX. Those hit like a much heavier bullet.

I have a rem 700 with a Hart fluted barrell cut short.

Loves the Hornady AWT.

Bang flopped a doe with it.

I use Federal Premium 117 grain Sierra GameKing in my T/C Venture 25-06. 3,030 fps and 1" groups at 100 yards.

Sample of 2 only, as I've only had my TC Encore Prohunter 1 season.

Federal Fusion 120gr was accurate & I can't complain about the performance on the buck & doe in the freezer.

Finally got to the range with my new tikka set up....it didn't disappoint.

Took 3 shots to get it dialed in close after bore sighting (new gun)...I then ran a patch down the barrel twice to make sure it was clean and to let it cool down alittle.

1. Fed Gameking Sierra 117gr
- .75-1.0 at 100yrds in two different 3 shot groups

2. Hornady American Whitetail 119gr
-.5-.75 inch at 100yrds in a 5 shot group

Given that Hornady AW is about $10-12 cheaper around here I will probably roll with it.

Tikka never ceases to amaze with its accuracy.

If you find a factory load it likes, you better go buy all you can find of that lot#.

Shot one for years. Loved it. Started out with Rem 120 core locks to get some cases to reload but it liked them so much I never bothered reloading for it.

+1 if it likes it grab it while it is available!

The factory load my 25-06 loves was already discontinued when I got it here in classifieds. It took time but I travel a lot for work and try to find time to hit every gun store along the way. Now have 6 boxes of the same lot sitting in the safe for many deer seasons to come!
