Wish I did know the back stories on all those. I just happened across a website with a lot of hunting pictures and posted some of the ones with nice rifles or interesting subject matter.

Y'all are welcome to lose most of a day browsing through the archives here. wink

Three questions.

What is the rest of the story on the Lion.

What happened with the Elephant?

Did the girl from Shooting World come with the rifle?

Thanks for sharing. Amazing rifles.

Good firearms photography is truly an art! There's some folks here on the fire who are good at it. Perhaps one/some of them could put together a bit of a tip list?

Pretty sure none of mine are so worth photographing but it would be fun to try to get better at it.

I had to look that one up to make sure it didn't have biblical connotations..

I am NOT hostile to culture or the arts-as the definition says-there is nary a Weatherby in the house! laugh

Didn't realize until I enlarged the picture that this is Jim Corbett's .275 Rigby (aka 7x57 for the unwashed) that "has accounted for many man-eaters". If you can't read the letter in the second pic hit Ctrl + to enlarge the image, then hit Ctrl - to put it back to regular size.

The third picture is a full length view of the rifle.

By the way, any of you on Facebook should "like" the Hunting page. There are hundreds upon hundreds of old and new hunting pictures from all over the world. They are amazing.

Sorry Parson, but I just can't bring myself to play on Facebook, despite the attractions. The little slug that runs it works to destroy almost everything we believe in, and visiting his site just makes him richer and more powerful.

Hope all's well with you.

I understand. Have one of your kids or grandkids "like" the page so you can at least look at the pics on their page. whistle

Things are fine, thanks. We're having August weather already. My BIL and I hunted in a 105 heat index last week. Pretty miserable, but better than not being out at all.

I hope all is well with you and yours.

True. The Vanguard is a viable rifle.

This picture really spits in the face of the plastic stocked guns that so many sport around today. You would think no one could hunt with a nice gun anymore...

And if you'll pardon the sidebar, folks often ask what the real draw is in African hunting, and I would have to say it's the raw, primitive savagery of the place, where you really have to rough it to be successful.

They're talking about porn in the Handgun forum and posting reruns for the VBTE version 6 or 7 or whichever in the basement so I figured this one needed to be brought to the top.

You might want to start at page one and work your way back through.
