The cleaner the better in an AR.
The military changed to BL C-2 to minimize chamber fouling in the M16's.
It's a good selecttion.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I will use the H335 in a bolt gun and try the BL C-2. Esox357.

all of the above choices are not bad. I've run just about every powder that could be tried in the AR over the years. In a correct and accurate barrel they don't seem to mind much at all.
The above answers can very much so be tainted by what bullet weights you are using and what you are after. Much as choice of primers can be somewhat dictated by choice of powder.
FWIW I had some really horrible luck with AA powders some years back. Lot to lot varying up to 200 fps and never knew if you'd get accurate loads or not. Have refused AA since then. For cost savings 844 is not a bad place at all to start!!!
