Boxed up a Montana 7mm-308, 6x47L reamer and 8 twist Lilja tube and sent it north for a makeover, should be back in a month.

#4 outta be just as fun a #1, #2 and #3

Thought this would be the last but a 22x47 would be slick and maybe wicked too.

Built one for my Grandson about 5-6 years ago. A great rifle that cost a lot of money. This is the 600 receiver.

I do not like cammo, but if that what your Grandson wants, that is what he gets.

I learned fully machined receiver is a poor approach to duplicate a custom. The 600 receiver raceway was reamed, the front ring squared to the reamed bore, lug abutments cut perpendicular to the reamed raceway, and single point the barrel threads. An Anshutz bolt release was added and a cut made in the front ring to allow a long loaded round to eject. The rear receiver screw was opened to 1/4X28TPI. After this was done I bought a PT&G bolt to fit the reamed raceway. I wanted the bolt to have the .062 firing pin hole and I bought the firing pin assembly and the 3 pos safety. I purchased a bolt handle and shipped it to Dan Armstrong in Fairbanks, Ak. Dan tig welded the handle on and timed it for proper bolt lift and extraction. I used the M16 extractor. The 600 receiver has a short tang and would not allow a Jewell or Shilen trigger. The rear tang screw was about .150" into the back of a 7 or 700 type trigger. It has a Shilen barrel and a Brown Precision pounder stock. I believe we put a 2.5X8 Leupold on it. We use 95 grain Bibs bullets in it. So far all has been 1 shot kills.I would never spend this kind of money on building a Remington receiver properly. I could have bought a custom.

Had a box waiting for me Thursday, installed and adjusted the trigger, dropped the action back in the stock with no bedding.

Mounted the SS 1x4 in TLW's and loaded 105 Amax's over RL 26 last night.

First 14 down the pipe, bore sight and three at 100, adjust scope, two more. That was .4 mrad up and right but apparently the SS didn't get the message so dialed .4 down.

Ran JBM guessing at 2950 and dialed .4 for 200 yards and fired the next nine.

Looks great. I do imagine you can get some more speed out of it it you wanted. I am about to put another 6mm together, but I am leaning towards a plain Jane 243 with an 8tw.

The kids shoot 243, I had no issue hitting 3050 with the 24" ADL and RL 26.

QL predicted 3080 with the load I am shooting but I am seeing 50-75 fps lower velocity for most every cartridge.

I have another shorter in 243. This will be a heavier built rifle for rockchucks and steel. I am a big fan of 6mm stuff. Have a 243, 6Br and a pair of 6x45. Thinking of a 6-06 to play with really heavy 115's or similar, at some point.
