Pleasingly symmetrical yesterday and today in Ogden.

Friday it topped out at 99° and 9%

Today it hit 100° and 10%

That was at 5:22pm. It's now 8:45 and the temp has already dropped to 87° and expected to drop to 65° by morning. The sprinklers ran this evening, so that skews my humidity reading, but it's still only 22% right now.

Mid 90s here this weekend with a real feel of about 107. No rest for the weary as we have to mill a stack of cedars into 1"x 6" boards. That is what I get for spending a week at the beach earlier this month. Wish I was still there! cry

Yep. Gonna be a hot weekend in CLT. Plenty of humidity. It'll feel like close to a hundred. I've lived in this temperate rain forest all my life and love it. My daughter is sending me pics from the Tetons. Snow capped peaks.

I crawled in a 3/4 filled grain bin the other afternoon to check and treat for bugs.

It was probably 95 outside but I swear to God it must have been 150 inside that sonuvabitch.

It felt frikken cool and refreshing when I crawled back out.

You say that like it's a lot of humidity... laugh laugh

I can take the dry, desert heat. But man you add humidity, and become an a/c puzzy real quick. shocked

I've lived in south Louisiana and south Arizona. Louisiana is less comfortable. Shade counts for something in Arizona without that gallon of water per cubic foot of air following you around.

Today was a bit overcast and mid 70's. Pretty cool electrical storm last night with a heavy deluge. Southern style. I miss those storms.

90 here in northern Ontario and humidity is high. Not so hot as some of you, but January here we often see 40-50 below. Like most fat guys I don't do hot and humid very well.

Drove through Blythe, Ca on the way home to Northern Az today.

It was 120 degrees in the desert. Home was 70 degrees, 50 degree change within 4 hours driving.

High about 75 here today - and 8% humidity breezes swishing through the ponderosas. Probably down to 50 or 55 tonight. Very quiet, too - especially after last weekend.

The rain and wind stopped. Dead calm and 55. Should hit 50 in a few hours. Forecast for tomorrow is blue skies and a high of 77, low of 48. Up on the mountain we are usually 5 or so degrees cooler than in town. The next week looks great too. We will get the kayaks out in Tuesday.

I lived the first half of my life in Illinois, Texas, Mississippi and Florida. That is not "air" you poor bastids breathe; it's hot Jello.

When my family and I arrived in Ogden almost exactly 31 years ago (July 31st, 1985) the radio announced "It's 105 degrees and the humidity is way up there at five." My girls just about giggled themselves silly. Having just driven in from Florida via Texas, they could not believe the difference lack of humidity makes.

So don't try to tell me there's no truth behind heat index or "feels like" ratings.

At 7:00 this morning it was 80. Right now at 9:35 it's 89. Supposed to get to about 99 or 100 today with 70% humidity. Heat index will be about 110.

We haven't really had any rain for about the past month other than a couple of thunder storms. It's getting pretty dry and the grass quit growing.

The last time I was in Las Vegas, it got up to 110 and I thought it was about 85 or 90.

Yes........it's smokin hot here and will be for the next couple of weeks at least.

A couple of days ago I pulled out the infrared remote thermometer and checked wall temps in the sun.
Hit a new high at 194.

I don't see attics often then thermometers in em when inspecting, but when I do, its usually 135 or so. I can only guess what a grain bin in the sun could be....

I know attics in full fire gear really suck. For me anyway. Having had a heat stroke, i'm a bit more sensitive it seems.....

I've passed out 3 times while shooting highpower in the TX heat in the summer and seen stars many times. That plus the heat stroke, i flat hate it when its over 90 or 95.

87 just now, loaded wood for half an hour on the trailer, soaked to my drawers, suspect humidity could be around 85 or so.

Taking a break to drive to town and get new boards for the trailer and protein for hte deer.

Speaking of attics, last year we not only had extra blown-in insulation added (to R-50) but before that we had heat barrier reflective film (think Space Blanket) installed to the roof rafters. We also replaced the 110v roof fan with a solar unit (If it's sunnin' it's runnin'!)

Holy smoke what a difference! Instead of the usual 130-150° up there in the summer, it now barely gets above ambient. That means MUCH less heat for the insulation to block.

Thirdly, we had the exterior walls filled with non-expanding water-based foam. Outside sound was cut by at least half, and the inside walls stay cool to the touch all day - and night.

Yesterday, although it hit 100°, our Air Con unit didn't come on until after 3 pm with the thermostat set at 75°. The house just doesn't heat up, period.

At least in the summer, if it is a 110 here, the "heat index" is 110...

in the winter, when the temp is 30, the "wind chill" is 30...

I don't miss Minnesota, or even metro DC & Northern VA when it comes to weather...

its been pretty mild since I got back from Quemado.

We did that last year too. Amazing how much quieter the house is as well as power bills summer and winter running 25% less.

Went on a 2 hour hike this am. 79 when I started at 0630 and 89 when I finished as a sloppy wet mess. Can't wait until fall.

People over hype the humidity as much as they do the temp. At the latitudes in the US you simply cannot, except maybe in the farthest south, have 100 degree temps and 70% humidity and higher like so many claim. Humidity keeps the overall temp down. The higher the humidity the lower the temps and vice versa.

I live at roughly the same latitude as Phoenix. So that means that we receive the same energy from the sun as Phoenix does. But we don't get the same temps. Why? Because of the humidity. It is a practical impossibility around here for it to get 100 degrees unless the humidity is in the 40s. It may start the day high, but the hotter it gets, the lower.

Today, it is pretty humid. So it will be a little cooler than the last few day. We start out at 68 percent humidity early. By three this afternoon it will be 99 degrees, 45% humidity, and 115 degree heat index.

Some folks might agree with that idea, JoeBob.

But not meteorologists.
