VORTEX DIAMONDBACK 3.5-10X50 vs MEOPTA MeoPro 3-9x50

Hi dear folks! I am on market for new scope for my brother`s rifle - cz 527. 223 rem.
Hunnting will be in dark, so 50mm lens needed, not 56, illumination is not obligatory, but wellcome. 1 inch tube is needed, because we have brand new original CZ fast mounting with rings (expensive!), wich we need to use.
Highest amount to spend is about 900 usd. Will be better to not spend them all.
First we wanted scope in 2-12x50 or 2-10X50 range, but prices are higher then we may spend.
Finaly after seeng a lot of scopes here in Bulgaria, we must decide from this 2 scopes - VORTEX DIAMONDBACK 3.5-10X50 vs MEOPTA MeoPro 3-9x50.
Meopta is well known here in Bulgaria, and I personaly prefer it - for me is brighter and clear, 10 year waranty, made in Czech republic, BDC ret. Prize here is about 520 usd. Vortex is about 300 usd. I know Vortex VIP warranty, but if we have prblem must send scope to dealer, then in US and waiting. If have problem with meopro it will be fast.
Hard to decide for me, brother will shoot with any of them, he don`t care so much for scopes - need only ammo and animals smile.
I will be happy to hear answers from hunters/shooters used this scopes or similar - pros and cons. And other recomendation in this price range will be fine.
Sorry for my bad english language!

CZfan,

Welcome to the 'fire. I only posted to welcome you to the 'fire and say your English is better than almost everyone here's Bulgarian. smile

About the scopes, go with the one you prefer since your brother won't care.

One thing I will mention is that the reticle choice will be quite important for the application you mention. The Meopta #4 will work, though the center wires are too thin for my liking. Still, the proximity of the thick portions of the bars are such that you can bracket the game and make the shot. The Vortex reticles would be hard to see against a dark target.

I would not recommend the Vortex for this type of hunting.

Good luck...

I haven't looked through a Vortex Viper PST or under model scope that comes close to a Meopta.

I've bought 2 Vortex scopes, a Viper PST and Viper HS scopes. Both were sold in 2 days after purchase. I'm not impressed with Vortex in the least. People brag on the good warrantee...You'll need it if you get one.

OK, I understand about Vortex vs Meopta. Thanks!
How you think about Nikon monarch 3 or 5, 2.5-10X50 vs meopro 3-9X50?

In a Vortex Diamondback/Viper vs Meopta vs Nikon Monarch scope picking contest I'd take the Meopta 100% of the time.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Meopta hands down. I have 4 Meopta meopros and one Vortex PST. I've had a diamondback before and it doesn't compare to the Meopro.

I consider it brighter and sharper than Vortex and Nicon.
My eyes realy like Meopta scopes.
