Just spent a couple days at a Buds camp in Somerset and he showed me a few trail cam pics from his place. He is stuck in the woods but surrounded by farmland. Two Bucks were pretty impressive. Not thick horns, but 10's wide and high. One with double drop tines. How often did you see that before AR? Deer tracks all over the paths. Saw a couple out in the winter wheat and driving to a shoot saw Deer out in the fields every day early morning and late afternoon.

Up here in Minnesota our northern deer herd suffers from two things. Bad winters and wolf depredation. The liberals succeeded in getting our token wolf season overturned. Now we have some of the fattest wolves you've ever seen running around up north. I've hunted from North of Brainerd up to the Duluth area, and the herd is really reeling. Two years ago up near Duluth we never heard a single shot, nearby or far away until 4:30 Saturday afternoon of the opener. I will be hunting west of here in the Alexandria area. No wolves, and lots of deer. Shotguns only, but that's fine. I still have an 870 set up for slugs from my previous life in Ohio.

Mine is just going out today for 2A. We get so many it is pretty easy to at least get one. I am to the point I let doe walk more than shoot these days. Like to have a Doe tag so I have an excuse to take the smokepole out.

Guess I won't get one for around here again. I've got one for my Dad's place but was hoping for 2nd round tag from 2C. They cut the allocation a couple of years ago. Oh well, if I don't get a buck, that tag is good anywhere in the flintlock season.

Going to get more serious this coming flinter season. Last year was a wash, due to far more work after Christmas than I had anticipated and some really crappy weather when I did get a break.
Love the tradition of PA rifle season, but spending time alone in the woods with the front stuffer, is also high on the list of things to do.
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.

I've received 4C tags for the wife and I since the first round. Ready to send in for 3C this Friday. Looks like we will have no problem getting them either.
Then all I will have to wait for is over the counter. I usually grab 2 or 3 tags for 5D and send in an APP for the state park hunt drawing.
Enjoy the hunt while it lasts!

How does a non-resident apply? I tried, but can't figure out where to send my application. It says you need a special pink envelope???

You get the envelopes where you purchase the license, if purchased online, they usually send you an envelope and a copy of the Gazette. Applications are sent to any County Commissioner's office (your choice). Addresses are listed in the Gazette.

It's the County Treasurer office, (and that's who the check is made out to also) NOT the County Commissioner. There's a couple of counties that don't issue for some reason or another but pretty much you can send to any Treasurer, it doesn't have to be in the county you plan to hunt in. Just be sure to select the right WMU though.
As of right now, there are tags remaining in WMU 1A, 2A, 2B, 2D, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A, and 5 A, B, C D. All other units are sold out.
