I have had good luck with the Berger 115gr VLDs. So far they have accounted for a white tail, antelope and a 100 LB hog with great results in my 25/06 AI.

The 110 grain accubond behind H4831sc has peformed very well for a few of us on assorted critters. The 100 gr TSX behind IMR 4350 also shot and performed very well out of my 25-06.

Lots of choices, but the 110 AB has a decent BC, holds together at shorter distances and provides pretty good accuracy out of three different 25-06's that I know of.

I've had good luck with the 100TSX on antelope and mule deer. No elk yet. All were one shot kills.

For what it's worth (and as usual, I see lot's of fella's here that have a bunch of faith in the 25-06 as I do), every animal I've shot with the 25-06 goes down hard and DRT results are quite normal.

For whatever reason's (and I don't think it has to do so much with bullet's alone), the 25-06 has the capacity to do much more "work" than generally given credit for. Hit's from '06's, .270's and 270WSM's show little, if any more terminally effective results than the smaller diameter and less recoiling, 25-06.....all else being equal (shot placement, distance's.....etc.).

Joyce Hornady designed that bullet specifically for elk in the .257 caliber. It has a long history of success behind it as Hornady has been dead of over 30 years now.

A jagged 2 inch hole through both lungs at 300-350 yards? How will you ever know if you beat that kind of performance? Leave your dandy load alone, go forth and murderate anything in America that doesn' bite.

My experience with a 25.06 includes eight consecutive one shot kills on whitetails and muleys, using Federal Premium 117 gr. Sierra Gamekings. None of 'em made it more than 30 yds, and most were DRT.

Did some of those bullets break up? Yep.

But, damn, are Sierra bullets ever accurate, eh!

I've used the 115 and 100 grain Barnes a lot on quite a few different species and was always very impressed with the bullet performance. I didn't notice much difference in performance between the two - both were excellent. I think either one of those bullets moves the 25-06 well past a 270 - that is, if the latter cartridge is firing a traditional cup and core bullet.

I like the Speer 120 grain Grand Slams. Kills quick!!

I have three favorite bullets in the 25 cal, Barnes 100 gr TTSX, Nosler 100 GR Partition and BT

+1 on the 100 grain TTSX.

I have been shooting 100 grain TSXs out of my 26" #1 and they have performed well. The rifle shoots them about .75" @ 100 so I am happy.

As far as performance, they have all exited on deer and do not leave much of a blood trail. Most of the bucks shot in the heart and lungs have run 75-100 yards. Other than CNS shots, Deer always seem to run so I wouldn't mind a more expanding bullet on deer. Granted, the deer I hunt in the SE are 200 pounds and less so the TSX probably would perform better on larger specimens but dead is dead. I am not in a rush to switch but would like to try heavier partitions or accubonds, thinking they might be perfect.

My favorite game bullet for .257 Roberts or .25-'06 is the 120 grain partition.

I haven't had good accuracy with the TSX or TTSX. If you're looking at elk, though, I'd still pick up some and give them a try. Every rifle is different.

I used the 110 grain accubond on 2 deer last year ... I won't do that again. I lost 3 of the 4 front shoulders to bloodshot .. just bloody goo oozing from where the meat used to be. I'd throw them away but they were fairly accurate and that performance should be good for anchoring coyotes I don't plan to skin.

The 110 Accubond with IMR4350 has worked very well for us, too. It is the only bullet my wife will now let me load for her rifle.
