Funny I have owned probably 6-8 ruger #1s over the years all red pads and 2 were7x57. I'll admit the the first 7x57 liked longer bullets but it would easily shoot 1.5 inches with a variety in of bullets. My current 7x57i haven't shot all that much but I am familiar with it as I got it from a friend and it will group a variety of bullets into a 50 cent piece. The rest of my red pads have all shot at least as good most slightly better including a a 243 and a 22-250 that would shoot dime sized groups. All as from the factory. So if you want one I say go for it based on my experience. Oh and my buddy has had at least as many as I haveand none have been clunkers
