I found a 99 today in a local shop. Chambered in 250 savage. Brass counter. Wood nice put does have a repair on toe. Issue: has new barrel. No scope included.

Asking $950. I know its his gun and he can ask what he wants and refuse to take less. What is everyone's opinion on a fair offer?
I cannot see ME paying more than $550-600 because of the caliber.

Thanks

I would pass. You can find a good one for less.

250's bring a premium over most other common calibers

Still over priced.

If it would be for hunting some 250's had a slow twist.

If looking at old ones for hunting I would favor a 300 with a drilled and tapped action to take scope mounts.

Listen up at the club or range for one in some old guy's closet.

Here is one that's $250 now.

It's not the caliber, as said above the 250 is very desirable. It's the replacement barrel and repaired stock that makes that price a tad high.

Got a .300 Savage, kinda rough. 1935.
Paid a little over $200. Dunno if I got hosed or not.
Gonna pop a deer with it and take a pic.
Might keep it, might not.
Rough enough it'd look cool over my fireplace.
Usable wall hanger is what I reckoned.
Might be a fun Bambi slayer.

They put fuzzy sights on rifles way back then....looking for a tang peep to fix that.
Found a few, too much $ for the rig that'll wear it.
Guess I'll dig through the old parts boxes at the gunshows.

When I clicked on the link it was showing a bid of $650 and reserve not met. New listing for it now. They're proud of it.

I cleaned up the buttstock on mine. Good enough I'll just wax and hunt it. Forend got some oil, is drying at the moment.
Figure late tonight a few Double Crooked Tree ales and 0000.
Both the forend and I get a little polish........

That looks really nice hookeye. The stock in particular is much nicer than my pressed-checkered 99C's. If it shoots as good as it looks, you stole it for the price.

It was pretty ugly. Guy that sold it to me thought it was a different rig smile

Got the Lightfoot scope base, Leupold extension ring set should arrive today. Have a 2-7X Redfield laying around.
Hopefully hit the range Monday morning.

Still gotta figure out a higher comb deal. Have some leather and kydex around.

Yup, bought this rifle with the intent to hunt it smile

Got some Rem 150's and a box of Hornady Superformance. Hopefully one of them shoots decent.
