I wonder could it be that new federal "manufacturer" bullshit?
Their website seems normal.

That's a shame. I guess I was one of the last ones to get in. Dave is shipping mine to me this week.

I hate to hear that. I know he's had heart problems & wish him all the best. He's provided a lot of good value to the shooting community over the years.

He's been a real asset, hate to see him hanging it up.
I wish him the best.

Didn't he go through some medical issues about a year ago?
I have had him put a couple of rifles together. Hate to see him drop out of the industry. He was great to deal with. On my last deal he called me upon receiving my barreled action in the mail. Said the wing safety had been broken by the shippers (still baffles me how that happened given my packaging). I ordered a new one, sent it to him and he installed it at no expense.

I picked up a rifle about 3 weeks ago that he re barreled for me and at that time he said to keep him in mind for any jobs I might have in the future.

That's too bad. I used to use them back when they were considered a "well kept secret" around here, before word got out about them. Then I just started driving over to Karl's place........

I spoke to Dave this morning and he said to feel free to update the thread, I will keep it simple and as close to the conversation as possible.
He confirmed that ITAR is the reason for not accepting new work.
He requested that everyone concerned research the applicability of ITAR registration to manufacturers and gunsmiths noting inconsistency and ambiguity.
He requested everyone concerned contact their congressmen.
He requested that everyone wait to send projects until he has time to evaluate the situation, at 71 he is not building rifles because he needs money, he enjoys his job so the choices are either comply or retire.

I've certainly not read it in detail but it appears that ITAR controls export. Is it also affecting domestic sales? And if so, how? John
