I drove over to Founders Ranch in Edgewood, NM near Route 40 (and historic Route 66) yesterday to seen how they are coming along with the "End of Trail Wild West Festival" and cowboy action shootout.

Events are underway, the official opening took place yesterday afternoon and all of the food vendors (Including BBQ) and sellers of cowboy accoutrements such as guns, leather, slickers, hats, etc. were in place.

I expected it to be big, but there were already at least 75 to 100 mobile homes, RVs and campers of all sizes parked in the field where the longhorns usual roam, west of the "town." More were coming as I left. It rained, but bothered no one as we all had big hats.

It is open to the public Fri-Sat, June 24-25. Lots of families there already, and of course flooded with old geezers in cowboy outfits.

Check S.A.S.S. or Founders Ranch for directions and info. Looks like fun. grin

Met a bunch of people including "Evil Roy," who kindly showed me his latest holster rigs while the display was closed.

They said over 700 shooters in the cowboy action contests.

Man, I could not believe the number who like to dress up as cowboys, gamblers, tinhorns and dance hall girls. And the bulk! grin

I haven't participated in a CAS match since probably 1999 or 2000, but it was a hoot. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
