Went by a local pawnshop today, and found an old Remington 760 in .300 Savage. Metalwork, other than a spot on the barrel,is good. Ratty old scope in see thru rings, but they can go away easy enough.

It is an earlier rfle. He wants four bills, worth it?

Seems average. Get them to the $325-$350 range and maybe a good deal.

I would start at $300, worst they can say is no.

I saw one just like that at a small town gunshow last year. It was $400.00. Had the aluminum butt plate and corn cob forend. I almost bought it, as I thought it was a cool little rifle. It also had a scope, but I believe it was an old weaver. If it keeps you up at night, thinking about why you didn't buy it, it was probably a good deal...

. You just described my 760 in .300 savage! I paid $175 about eight years age! Give inflation 300 to 350 wouldn't be a bad price!

To me, $400.00 is the top end. The scope and see through mounts are not worth much, if anything.

The 300 Savage is probably a plus, but it is not a bargain at 4 bills.

Still mulling it over in my head. I sure don't need another rifle, but it might be fun to go "old school" and retreat from the long-distance stuff.

I don't think you'll ever find one in decent shape in Pa. for $400. I've seen nice ones push the $550 mark at gun auctions around here. Heck its hard to find one for $400 in 30-06 anymore

If it looks good, you'll see it
If it sounds good, you'll hear it
If it's marketed right, you'll buy it
But...If it's real, you'll feel it

Hell, maybe you had it for sale at a small town gunshow in Southern Washington then... laugh
