Nope,I bought one for my neighbor who was out of town. Only used his driver's license #.

A first time license buyer has no CID #

Well gods were smiling from the heavens for you where I went was a complete goat [bleep]... Next year stores need to announce have options. 1-5 ready to go their will be no standing around scrolling through left over permits while other people wait.

Turns out my buddy was 2nd in line in Aurora and the guy in front of him got this tag, but since the clerk screwed around so much my buddy wasn't able to get the ones we wanted

Sounds like "welcome to California" Apparently all these people moving in are either not pot heads, or pot heads that hunt.

I have my license, always look for anything else I might want in the deer, antelope, and even a left cow.

I am in it for the broader experience anyway, good fire, conversation (lies), a little beverage, and see some pretty contry.

Can I ask you guys a question? I have been looking at the regs all weekend. I'm trying to put together a last minute hunt on the cheap (kitchen project went way way over budget). I'm looking at the NW portion of the state Lower Yampa and Green river areas specifically. I see that they have leftover tags and OTC. First question is I can find the tag number in the list but what I can't find is how to read the code. I am assuming that the last 2 stand for the season ie. 2R. By the way I'm looking to go second season as that is what works with my time frame. I'm not looking for trophies here just a legal animals. I was going to buy deer and elk tags. I've got 8 windows open on the tool bar trying to figure it all out. Deer would be the primary focus elk would be the bonus. Can you you guys help me here please. Thanks

First go to the map that has the Game Management Units on it. .Find the Game Management Units in the area you want to hunt.

As an example the Green River runs thru Units 201 and Unit 2. The Yampa is the dividing line it looks like between Units 2,3, and 11

Then go to the deer draw section of the Big Game Brochure that list Units , dates , sex , and hunt codes.

Unit 2, 2nd season,the hunt code is D-M-002-02-R for a buck tag
Unit 201 , 2nd season ,the hunt code is D-M-201-O2-R
Unit 3, D-M- 003-02-R
Unit 11, D-M-011-02-R.

Now go to the leftover license page and match those hunt codes to where there are left over tags.

Same with elk

That is great information Saddlesore gave you. You can also, with that information, call the licensing number found at the Colorado Division of Wildlife web site and give them that info and ask if there are any tags left. I have found them to be very helpful. You can then purchase the license you want right then.

I'm kind of looking at both sides of Strawberry as as my primary hunting areas and possibly a jaunt into 301 if time allows.
