Found a blued red label 20 with fixed mod and IC chokes for a reasonable price. Want a good beater dove, quail, snipe, rabbit gun but ive read mixed reviews about red labels and dont know much about the older fixed choke models. Should a run or scoop it up and shoot the piss out of it? Or should I save up and buy a beretta?

There's a reason they don't make them any more, one of them is, that you need a gun bearer to carry the heavy bast~rts.

How good is the price?
Rifle people pay a lot for them.
Shotgunners run from them.

Get a "B" gun

That 20 ga shouldn't be too bad of a club. i know the 12 ga are heavy for most shooters but that 20 should be on a smaller action and be manageable in the field. go handle it and if it seems ok to you then go for it. you wont loose any money on it at that price. i have not shot one of their 20 ga models so it's pure speculation on my part. could always try to low ball them

I was torn between the early red label and a beretta 390 20 years ago. I picked the beretta. NO regrets. Not a one.

Yeah i held a 12 with 28" barrels and used to own a citori 12 with 26" both felt blocky to me. The 20 red label feels like a 12 should feel IMO and more on the lines of a beretta 12 size wise. I may just buy me a real cheap turkish beater to leave in the truck and save up for a beretta for fine shooting.

A buddy has had one for probably 20 years. Now he is a hunter so he doesn't shoot a pallet of shells a month but its been trouble free for him and I like the way it shoots. If he offered me his for $750 i'd probably rip my pocket getting my wallet out. A lot of shotgunners are like fly fish men that are all hung up on the equipment and ?or look. Clay shooters are among the worst. If you buy it I ll bet you will be satisfied.

Why didn't you ask this on SCD and let Griffin respond?

I have a blued Red Label that I bought in 1981. Never a problem, it still shoots where I point and I would love to have another and also a 28 gauge Woodside. If it fits you buy it. Porsche73

I like mine, they are a little heavy, and I'd rather carry my SKB 100 thru the brush after quail.Never had a problem with my All Weather or old model Red Labels in the dove field or duck blind.
