The gear forum does not get much traffic, so I thought I would ask for opinions on the Protektor front rest here. I want up grade my small Caldwell Jr. front rest. I was looking at the Protektor rest and an owl bag. I ordered a Protektor rear bag a few months ago that I really like, so I am leaning toward the front rest. Looking for stable platform, easy to adjust, durable. Rest will be used for load development off the bench for hunting rifles, general shooting, etc.

Thanks for any advice.

I've used the leather ones for a long time. They're quite durable and will last for years. Mine sees a lot of use mounted on a Hart Pedestal rest. Make sure you order the right size. The 1 1/2" model will handle most forearms. I don't recall the width of the wider bag, but it's designed for wide, varmint and benchrest-type forearms.
