There are a lot more 6" 629 no dash around compared to the 4" and 8 3/8". 6" made from 1978-1981; 4 & 8" only made in 1981.

Here's my Model 83 44 mag I picked up used awhile back. All I can say is that it's very accurate way out there, and the grip frame fits me much better then the Model 97 grip frame. The 44 Mag is a relative pussy cat in this gun and for me, easier to shoot than my N frames with the same loads. I heard Santa is bringing me an Ultradot to try out on this gun and one of the Model 29s.
