I don't mind a two stage trigger but this one's 2nd stage is heavier than usual. Before I spend the money on a Timney I'd like to see if I can improve the stock trigger. I'm going to stone the sear and trigger contact points but from what I can see the sear spring looks like it would have the most effect on the pull weight. Will cutting a coil or part of a coil off this spring also help lighten the trigger pull?

I'd not cut coils. Maybe grind a little but no cutting. Really not heard of any stock Mauser reworks that were effective.

Plenty or replacements out there for cheap.

An old Mauser trick is to swap the trigger spring with the floorplate lock spring. That along with careful stoning of the sliding sear surfaces can yield a decent trigger pull.

Thanks to all for the info. I tried a lighter spring and stoned the sear, it lightened the pull but didn't feel right.
A Timney Sportsman is on the way.
