Several years ago old feller brought in 3 firearms and sold em to us one afternoon. Rem. 512, 94 Win. Carbine, and a model 12 Winchester. All 1958/59 production. Best we could tell, all unfired. I could afford the 512. So I snagged it. Today is granddaughter Katy's 10th birthday. One day I was getting ready to go to Prescott. I bought a few .22's there.
That same morning my youngest daughter called. Ask the wife what we were doing that day. Peggy told my daughter that I was headed to J&G to buy some guns.
Well, she piped right up and said "Dad promised me a new gun when I turned 21 and never did get it for me." Boy, talk about being thrown under the bus with your own words.
Anyone, instead of buying the 4 that I planned on, I bought 5. And on her 22nd birthday I gave her a .22 Boy, talk about a happy face !

Congratulations on creating family memories. First .22 stories are great! My uncle Tom gave me my first on HIS 22nd birthday. I was 9 at the time, a few months away from 10. Although I did get to shoot it occasionally up at camp, mostly I had to stare at that single-shot J.C. Higgins behind the gun cabinet glass for two years until I could take my NRA Hunter's Safety course and get my hands on it. Over 50 years later I still have it. So many rounds down that pipe it's just about a smoothbore!
