There is a fairly noticeable difference in numbers here locally and it sure seems to correlate with the hail streak.

The younger roosters all have fairly even tail feathers and you are probably right that last years birds have the (double) long ones.

What does FWP say, a 2-3 year old bird is an old one?

I went out for a walk earlier today. Jumped one rooster but he was up and out before I could get turned around.

A dog would be nice as it's pretty much a needle in the hay stack type of hunt down by the river.

I think the stat is 97% of the pheasant pop is under 3 years old. At least, that is what stick in my mind.

That's a nice pile of birds. Not sure I've killed enough of them yet to hunt with a gun like that. Looks like you would need some patience.

Shooting that gun is a dream, same as an other O/U- the trick is to reload it in a fairly expedient manner if the dogs are birdy!
LOL! I have had birds fly past me when the middle of loadng!

How do you like it? I almost bought a French Brit about 10 years ago. Went with the American version instead.

I hear mixed reviews.
