I am trying to decide between a monarch III 3-12 x40 or VX2 3-9-40. The monarch is a side focus. Trying to settle on a scope for my model 7, 6.5 SAUM. Of those two scopes, which would most likely track better?
Both are 1" tubes and plex reticles.

I know this is a loaded quesiton and the leupold lovers are going to get their feelings hurt, but........ The Nikon will track much better. Plus, I prefer their turrets over the Leupold. However, it's going to be substantially heavier. Something like 18 oz's vs. 12 or something like that (going off of memory here). With that being said, I've had buckmaster scopes (4.5-14x40 and 6-18x40) that tracked better than the Leupold VX1, VX2, and VX3..... Of course YMMV.. There's a reason the Nikon gets 5 star ratings. Try one, you just might like it... Just sayin..

Thanks for the feedback. Have an opportunity to get one on clearance at the LGS. I might just get it.

Is it the XR custom turret model? Those look pretty slick. Same basic concept as the Leupold CDS.

It is just a regular turret that is numbered and that I assume can be centered to zero. Clicks feel pretty crisp so I hope it tracks well.

Get the Leupold.
