There Is just something right about an early 50's Winchester model 94, 30-30.... eastern carbine.... had to snatch one up the other day, it was just to nice and all original to not get it... was not even a mark on the bolt face - around the firing pin...

two shots in the backyard at different ranges at plastic bottles filled with water off hand... both hits... good start.

I have used Hornady 170gr over 33 grs of W-748 for a traditional load. I also like the Speer 130gr FN over 36grs of W-748. These are loads that were developed for my rifles.

I picked up a 1949 last year with part of a box of the Winchester silvertips the old guy had bought when he got it,it is nice.

same here!!! mines a 1958 and the guy gave me a box of Winchester 170gr Silvertips with 5 rds in the box ( he said that it was the only ammo shot in the gun, and it looks it)the box has the price of .19 +1, I assume thats .20 a round

Got a flat band. Have not taken any big game with it yet, but it is still one of my favorite rifles.

Mine is a 1927, and to me there's just few rifles in the world cooler than a '94. I really like any of the pre-64's. I'd love to have a .25-35.

I picked up this one a couple of years ago for a good price. The checkering and receiver sight probably cut the value, but for me, enhanced it. I'm a shooter more than a collector. This one shoots and handles great. I'm pleased.

Mine is in the '43-'48 era in 32 Special. I have several Marlins, and they are great rifles, but there is just something about the feel of a pre-64 Winnie..

Several rifles and pistols just fit right for me. The Model 94 made in 1954 32 Special that I have is one of those "Special" rifles that fit just right.

I also have a 1949 Mod 94, as well as a 1975-ish one. I shoot the newer one more because it has a receiver sight and it function fine. Not quite as smooth as the 1949 one but very handy none the less. I also have a 340 Savage that shoots sub-MOA with 170 Corelokts over IMR-4064 and is a hoot so carry, feeling light a .22 bolt action.

Those 340's are good guns. I had one as a youngster in .222. it shot really well with 50 gr. Sierras. Killed a lot of stuff with my 3/4" J-4 Weaver.

I made a bolt stop using a leather covered screw in the wood behind the trigger. I could jam the trigger forward and remove the bolt. Usually the trigger is pulled all the way back to release the bolt.

It had pretty good trigger after I worked on it.

mine is 1897 mod in 3855 dark bar but shoots ok my other is a trapper in 45 lc.

My first buck, I was 15 years old in 1951 with my Dad's mod 94 30-30. I've still got that gun.

I've got a 1949 long forearm .30 WCF that I bought in 1982. I've no clue how many rounds I've run through that carbine since then or how many critters I've killed with it but it's alot on both counts. Killed one deer at 314 yards with it, one shot, one kill, through the top of the heart and out the opposite shoulder. Took a running red fox at just over 200 yards on one occasion and shot a crow off a fence post at 265 on another. Have taken at least three dozen deer with it over the years as well as countless woodchucks, rabbits, crows, foxes etc etc. It wears a Williams peep in the rear and a green fire sight up front nowdays as my eyesight ain't what it used to be. I killed a mess of chucks with it this summer and can still group 3 shots under 2" at a hundred any day on demand. In my prime I could average an inch and a quarter with the Williams peep in the rear and a Lyman ivory bead up front shooting 150 Hornady's over 32.5 gr's of IMR 3031. I figure to have that old carbine buried with me and hopefully kill a bunch of shyt with it on the other side.
