So I'm going to rebuild my old 30-06 ! #11414676 09/02/16

OP splattermatic Campfire Outfitter Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 8,517 n.w. new mexico	Going to pull the 22" factory barrel with screw filled sight holes, and replace it with a stainless 24", fluted, TI take off. Old m8 6x42, is gonna go back to Leupold for an LRD reticle change, and the bolt will go off to Eddie for a fluting, and lightening cuts. The whole thing will get ceracoat ed, graphite black, and go back into a nice walnut stock. No use for it, but I want a project. I intend to run either 168 gr ttsx's or 180gr partitions. This all sound dumb ?

That's a beautiful stock. I'd get it checkered! PS- what you said ain't dumb but I guarantee that whatever Dumb Don said IS dumb...

I like the smooth look on certain rifles (sporterized Mausers Springfields & Enfields) but for a truly finished custom rifle checkering is a must. Love me some wrap-around action!

I dropped it off last Saturday, and it was ready Monday, but I have to work. Would be late in the evening if I went to get it. I'm think about checkering it, as well as graphite black for the color. I wanna see how it shoots before I go doing more.

Still had them swap out the heavy duplex, for a regular one. I'm going to see how it shoots before I get the bolt fluted, and lightened, and stock checkered.
