What are your opinions of the current John Deere Gator UTVs?

Cousin has a 825 that he uses for work with the USDA and puts roughly 3500 miles per yr on it now up to ~8500 total. He had to add good 6 ply tires on it (each year) and he did modify the air intake a bit but zero mechanical issues.

A friend in Colorado has one of the 570/590 smaller models and its been flawless with heavy back country use.

I'm on my second 825 and I like them a lot. We use them hard here on the ranch. Lots of rough country. They are a good machine.

Would you choose them over a Polaris, Honda, etc.?

Might want to check out a Yamaha Viking (3 passenger) or Viking VI (true 6 passenger). I have a 2016 Viking VI Ranch Edition and absolutely love it.

If you're interested there is an ad on Ifish (Oregon/Washington forum) from a guy that won a 2016 Ranch Edition VI and is looking to sell it as he has no need for it. Already advertized below dealer cost, and you probably could get it even cheaper. For what it's worth.

I can only compare the Gator to the Mule I had before I bought my first Gator. The Gator has a wider wheelbase, more clearance, and has been practically problem free. Many of the UTVs have too much plastic. Make sure you get a vehicle with a steel floor.

From what I've seen, there ain't any flies on the Polaris 1000 Ranger. One tuff machine to date.

Bought a new Gator 590i last week. Replaced a Yahama Rhino with it. Only 19 hours so far but like the JD more- etter ride and definitely quieter.

For me that's a minus. I have to have one that will fit in my long bed pickup and the 50" RZR does.
