If it's a matter of the cost of the rifle, then consider the Weihrauch HW95, which is the same rifle as the Beeman R9. Airguns of Arizona has the basic HW95 for $315 compared to the R9 at $489. I have the HW50S and can say the Record trigger on the Weihrauch is the best out of the box springer trigger I've had. That goes a long way towards how well you can shoot. Centershot should be along to relate his experience with the R9, he does some good work with his.

Had both, if you can swing it, the trigger and smoother firing characteristics - hands down HW95 Have an R9 .20, son has a .177, younger son the R7, which he has outgrown. The 34 I had was in .22, very good power, harder to shoot well - "vibration" harsher....

I have owned both also, the R9 is a nicer rifle. Kind of depends on how much you shoot. I would have been way ahead if I had just bought one to start with. As for accuracy, 10 yards is one hole, 25 yards 10 shots should be covered by a quarter. A nice scope and no wind are necessary for good groups beyond that. My R9 is minute of rock chuck to 50 yards and occasionally a little farther.

Yes the R9 is a step up from the 34 and worlds ahead of the Chinese and Spanish made guns. Over the last 20 years or so, my R9 has killed a ton of squirrels, groundhogs, coons, crows, feral cats, a a mix of other pests.

I've got 3 R's (a 7, 9, & 10) and love them all. You'll never regret it.
Figure you're getting at least a $150 worth of trigger with the Rekord. That, plus better accuracy than any 10/22 and no ammo resupply issues.
They're easy to work on too. I put a Vortek kit in mine and it's shooting .22 H&N FTS's at around 740 fps.

HW 95 is one really good breakbarrel springer. Own one in .22.
