Ah, so complicated...Which one of the Leica Models would you recommend and where's the best price for one?
Thanks! John

John, what power/features are you looking for? if you don't need the ballistic goodies I'd go with the HD-R's which I have in 8x and have been very happy with them. My optics search always starts with Doug at Cameralandny.

Looking at the 10x42. I think the ballistics thing is nice if I understand it correctly: With inputed data, it should show holdover in inches at, say 437 yards on a target, including elevation, temp, humidity or something?
While the Geovid R will only tell me 437 yards?

I am not sure if the only difference is the ranging distance of 2200 yards. Doug at Camerlandny, plays golf with he CEO of Leica USA weekly. If anyone know the details, it will be him. I have the old model, the B will tell you more data then you can us. The best for me is that it will tell me how many yards and how many clicks to adjust my scope.

Call Doug or Neil. Trust me, the price will be better than the website shows. I bought my 10X42 HD-B from Doug over the phone. I had them in my hands the next day here in South Dakota. You'll love them.
Bob
PS - the HD-B also takes the LOS angle into consideration. It will display true distance and then shoot-to distance next.
I met a French guy the other day. I asked him "Do you speak German?" He said "No." I said "You're welcome!"

I called Doug and he wasn't in the office on Friday and they'e closed today. I'll call Monday. Crazy that I also called Cabelas and was on hold for over 35 min. using two of their 800 & 866 numbers. This said, I called up LL Bean, and on the first ring, they answered right away, on a Sunday. That's great customer service! Unfortunately, LL Bean does not carry Leica. Eurooptic is also closed today.

If I were buying Leica anything I'd buy from Doug. You'll need Doug when Leica decides to screw you over on warranty work or customer service issues. Ask jorgeI.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
