Finally got time this last week to do some range testing with the 142 eld-x hunting bullet. Results so far have been impressive so I thought for the sake of any interested ones I'd post my results.

My platform is a stock Tikka T3 6.5 Swede stainless. Up top is a 6X42 Super Sniper MQ fixed in warn steel Tikka rings.

Lapua brass
Reloader 17
CCI 200 primer
142 eld-x
3.182 OAL

This week I shot 9 3 shot groups at 500 yds all groups cold bore. In 9 groups the largest measured center to center 2.1" while the small group was 1.23"

I'd say the ELD-X is capable of accuracy.

I didn't clock it. My best load was 45.2 grains reloader 17 .005 from the lands. My loads were on a second firing neck sized only with a Lee collet neck die. I also made sure runnout was around .001 or less

How do you get them down to 142 grains?

Dirtfarmer,

Though I didn't clock my load according to my math they had to be around 2750 ish. My zero was at 100 yds and I dialed 2.1 mils for 500 yds. The computer said that translated to 2780 fps to line up ballistically to the chart.

Shodd,

I shot some 143 ELD-X today from a .260 with IMR 4451, H4350, RL-15 and RL-17. I'm surprised I haven't seen much mention of them on here with their .625 bc and all but maybe I've missed it. The 4451 looks to be where I'm headed.

I have the same rifle (T3 swede) dropped in a manners and it loves that exact OAL (3.182) with the ABLR 142s. Based on this post, I will have to finally load up some ELDx

Nope, 2.1 mils! I'll have to recheck my notes when I get home. Perhaps I was zeroed at 200 yds?

Edit....just checked my notes and it was 2.4 mils with a 200 yd zero. Thank goodness for writing everything down or I'd be lost with this memory. 😀

Hey Shodd,
How does the 143gr. ELD-X's compare to the 140gr. A-Amax's @ 500 accuracy wise?
Thx

I have the same rifle, a T-3 Hunter, but mine isn't stainless. It shoots very well. So far I have used VV560 with 140 grain Speer flat base spitzers and with Hornady 140 grain match bullets. Both shoot very well - 10 shots into an inch or so. I think that ELD-X sounds pretty good. I'll have to try some.

Groups like that who the hell cares about speed?? Kinda like the idea of a FinSwede combo.

Similar set up on a 1:8 223, easy peasy

I haven't tried the 140 A-Max so I don't know.
