There are some pics out of the guy. The media tried to initially say "Hispanic". He does not appear to be. Time will tell.
Something is pretty sketchy with this one, but as with all things during the initial aftermath, information is often not accurate and lots of thing need verified for accuracy.

the rifle does not appear to have a DBM (such as an AK banana clip)
Again very blurry but it looks like a Marlin 60 (22LR?)
