We all die regardless of age, just a question of when and how

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Lots of drunks everywhere. But hitting a rock jetty at high speed, in the dark, is a pretty quick way to commit suicide.

RIP and Godspeed healing to the families!!

Very sad story. Happened after midnight.
Three young guys.

The Coast Guard found the boat, which had run into a jetty, and found the bodies of the three guys. None were wearing life jackets.

Now I did wild and crazy stuff when I was young and managed to survive.
But, obviously in the first place these guys had to be doing very high speed to all get killed, or else, knocked out and drowned.
And bet you a dollar they were drunk or on dope.

Sad story.

love the way officials say 'no evidence of alcohol or drugs', when no autopsy has been done. I'd bet they were stoned or drunk, driving 65 mph in a borrowed boat at 3AM.
Quote
Based on impact evidence and the severity of damage, officials concluded the boat -- a 32-foot SeaVee center console model -- hit the rocks at full speed, Veloz said.
Top speed on the boat would be between 50 mph and 65 mph, depending on the engines with which it was equipped, according to SeeVee's website.
Fernández was a passenger on the boat, and was not the owner, Veloz said.
"The boat is a total loss right now from what we can see," Veloz said. "It's horrible, it's bad, it's bad."
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the accident, he said, but he added that investigators had been been unable to get under the overturned wreckage. Autopsies have not been conducted. None of the three victims was wearing a life vest, he said.

Well, depending on the play of physics he might have left a beautiful body, that being an opportunity I passed a long time ago.

Had one of those water rockets years ago that would tickle 90 mph. Even in those younger days it never occurred to me that zooming around in the dark at any speed was a good idea. It was a daytime toy, end of discussion. Do stupid stuff, win stupid prizes.

I am..........disturbed.

Why?

The fact is that young people often feel immortal and the combination of bravado and inexperience leads them to over-estimate their capabilities, so they do dumb stuff and sometimes some of them don't survive to become older men. Three young men boating at high speed at 3:00 AM seems like an accident looking for a place to happen. The fact that Fernandez was a successful MLB pitcher with a lot of potential is sad, but the saddest aspect of his death might be that his fiance is pregnant with their child and the child will never know his/her father.

When I was 27, I was in an OH-58 crash and that near-death experience prompted me to changed the course of my life. I continue to view my survival as one of those "only by the grace of GOD" events.
