Las Vegas magician Mac King has a trick that's so notoriously difficult to figure out, even Penn and Teller have admitted they have no clue how he does it. See if you can spot the magic behind Mac King's rope trick. After all, it's just one rope... how hard could it be?

If they can't figure it out, only one guy knows the trick.

Magnets? They make some really strong small ones.
ETA: Watched the whole thing now. Rope up sleeve? Still thinking magnets. Sleight of hand for sure.

It's about like this:
"Do you puff peters?"
"Hell no!"
"NAZI!!!"

People are always trying to figure out how these things are done when it is just simply magic.

I can do the beginning part, but when he moves up to 16 individual pieces, he's taken it to a new level.
The first part is easy. He palms a small piece of rope, holding it so that it pokes out above his fist while the long piece of rope drops down below his hand, looking like one long piece. You then cut the small piece, making it look like you have cut the long one into two separate pieces. Then you toss the short piece and shake out the long one, claiming you've put it together again.
If you concentrate on the fact that he's always cutting a throw-away piece, while the single long one stays whole, it all makes more sense. However, he then goes way beyond, losing me completely.
