Maj.Gen.Patrick Brady,Medal of Honor recipient,flays Hillary-backing secretary of defense.

Robert Gates, as is the wont of many failed Washington insiders, is frantically trying to right an incredibly shattered legacy. By word and words, highlighted by acrid disloyalty, he is busy blaming others for his failures – including those to whom he owes fealty.

Gates fits the profile of the D.C. bureaucrat perfectly. Yet, in an amazing speech at the Reagan Library, I heard him take apart his fellow D.C. denizens in a most profane and vile manner that shocked many present. He spoke of his fellow bureaucrats, his brother and sisters in government, with contempt.

Does he not know he is a paradigm of the incompetent, amoral cohort that runs our government? He epitomizes an administration that put politics and process before people and country. Talk about mocking the meat you feed on. These are the very people – Gates’ clones – Trump has targeted and who are ruining our country.

Similarly, in an amazing self-indictment in the Sept. 16 issue of the Wall Street Journal (“Sizing up the next commander-in-chief”), Robert Gates lays out the disastrous international crises the next commander in chief will face – crises teeming with his fingerprints, crises in which he was complicit. No secretary of defense in history has had as negative an impact on military readiness as has Gates. He attacked the muscle and mores of the world’s greatest military. He tried to destroy its very ethos. He took a military from hollow to beyond hollow.

How? In his words, “How to count the ways.”

President Obama held Gates over from the Bush era probably to tout his bipartisan credentials. Gates was listed as a Republican. He is as much a Republican as is Colin Powell – or as Obama is bipartisan. Obama knew Gates would be a willing ally in fundamentally transforming the military (as part of transforming America) from the ass-kicking outfit he inherited to the girly men can kickers it has become. Obama promised to disarm America to a level acceptable to Islam! He did, and Gates was a willing ally.

Gates immediately fell in line with Obama’s anti-military, anti-American, pro-Muslim programs. He also shared Obama’s disdain for Israel. Islam became a protected species, and any language indicating the contrary was purged from military documents. An unidentified enemy is safe from defeat.

Gates, in the WSJ column, accused Trump of having a plan to purge our military leadership, calling it an “unprecedented and unconscionable threat.” What Trump said pales to what Gates did. Gates’ purging of the military was unprecedented in my time. His predecessor, Donald Rumsfeld, was a man’s man, a fighter pilot, an athlete, an exceptional businessman with vast experience in elected office as well as the Pentagon – a tough act to follow, especially for someone fresh out of a university lounge.

Weak leaders often try to project an image of toughness by “kicking ass.” Gates projects a Caspar Milquetoast persona that is not good when surrounded by proven ass kickers and hard-core warriors. To establish his credentials in an “unprecedented and unconscionable” way, Gates fired two service secretaries, a chairman of the joint chiefs, a chief of staff of the Air Force, the Army surgeon general and his deputy (for a Washington Post article on mice and mold at Walter Reed) and other good men – all more qualified than he. Gates actually removed a wartime commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David McKieman, something that is rarely done. Together, he and Obama may have overseen the “retirement” of more general officers (often officers representing the “traditional Army”) than any other combination in history. He actually declared 50 flag officers “redundant.” Now, hopefully, Trump will fire some generals but of a different quality than those fired by Gates.

Taking his cues from Obama, Gates almost immediately tackled the readiness of the Navy by putting females on submarines. Never mind that there is no privacy on a submarine. He then moved to quad sexualize the military (LGBT). Never mind that study after study, and more than 200 years of experience, have proven that open and active homosexuals would clearly harm military readiness – not to mention the impact on military schools, communities and chapels.

Whether one is enthralled or appalled by anal sex, the health disparities of that lifestyle are significant – and homosexuals could not, at the time, give blood. Every soldier is a walking blood bank. A drop of blood in an NBA game, thanks to Magic Johnson’s AIDS, stopped the game. Do we care less for our troops? The LGBT community leads the league in various diseases, suicide, alcoholism, drug abuse and on and on. In an amazing confession, Gates’ chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Michael Mullen, would actually boast of covering for homosexuals in the Navy – illegal at the time.

One wonders if Gates or Mullen would take blood on the battlefield from an active homosexual. But it is OK for their men? While Gates and Mullen may have no problem dancing together, the soldiers with whom I served would be upset to see their commanding officer dancing and romancing another man to the O’Club.

As is known by soldiers: Amateurs talk tactics; professionals talk logistics. Think of the logistics and costs of retraining health professionals to deal with the medical challenges of the LGBT cohort to include gender-reassignment surgery and battlefield transfusions and the costs of various bathrooms and privacy issues. In a word, this is insane.

Gates also supported Obama’s move to put females in foxholes. Does he not know, or care, what Islamic terrorists will do to captured females and homosexuals? Would he want his daughter in a bayonet charge against any all-male enemy unit? In another word, insane.

In addition to the quest for an image of masculinity, the D.C. crowd tries to project an aura of compassion for soldiers and their families. In my mind, the Gates/Obama faction showed its true compassion in two ways.

It was well known that President George Bush had kept us safe after 9/11 (and if the story is ever told, it will be found that it was the emasculation of our intelligence community under Clinton that facilitated 9/11). Narrative – not the truth – is vital to the left, and any act that could be labeled terrorist, would seriously harm Obama.

Therefore, the terrorist massacre of our troops and family members at Fort Hood by an avowed Muslim terrorist must be labeled anything but an act of terror by a Muslim terrorist. Gates allowed it to be labeled workplace violence. One wonders how anyone could do that and look at themselves in the mirror. Gates’ Pentagon actually worried that the massacre by a self-declared Muslim would hurt the efforts on diversity! The victims of that massacre, military families, were denied their just benefits for years because of an administration devoid of any semblance of compassion.

Secondly, the lack of compassion for the hardship and misery imposed on our troops through repeated deployments is cold blooded. In many cases, troops spend six of 10 years away from their families, resulting in unprecedented rates of suicide, PTSD and depression and anxiety in their families. Any administration that would not build a force structure to avoid this cruelty is heartless. And our troops began to bring the enemy home to a Veterans Administration that routed calls to a suicide hotline – to an answering machine.

Gates said Trump is a candidate who is beyond repair on national security – an amazing claim by a man who oversaw the greatest breach of national security in history. Hundreds of thousands of state documents were stolen under his watch, causing immeasurable damage to our security. This is remarkable considering he is a former head of the CIA. What is more remarkable is that he would support Hillary Clinton, a woman whose compromising of state secrets is matched only by his own. Gates knows without question that if anyone in his Pentagon had done what Hillary did, they would be at Fort Leavenworth, including himself. He also knew Hillary voted against the surge for purely political reasons, and he still supports her? Perhaps what is most telling in all the security blunders of Obama, Gates and Clinton is their total disregard, or ignorance, of national security and the lives endangered by their indifference and incompetence.

Surely Gates, under Bush and as head of the CIA, knew the effectiveness of enhanced interrogation. Under Obama, waterboarding, perhaps the most effective method of interrogation, was labeled torture. And those who did it were threatened with prosecution. These were people who may have worked for Gates. Unbelievably, Gates proclaimed that Obama’s decision to kill Osama bin Laden was the most courageous he had ever seen. One wonders: What is the point of reference for these people? It was a no-brainer. To do otherwise would have been an act of cowardice; and Osama’s death would not have been possible without waterboarding. You could not have had one without the other.

But at the top of the mountain of Gates’ disasters is his complicity with Obama in putting victory in the hands of the enemy by announcing strategic dates. The Gates/Obama withdrawal from Iraq facilitated the grotesque emergence of ISIS and the bloodbath and human-refugee tragedy that follows. That blunder may never be undone.

Beyond Gates’ confusion over the relation between sexual behavior and gender in military readiness, a total lack of compassion for military families, security malfeasance and the birthing of ISIS, he was especially incompetent in budget matters. His Pentagon misplaced millions of dollars and, unforgivably, lost graves and urns at Arlington Cemetery. Gates has actually criticized Donald Trump for criticizing NATO, something he himself has done.

This man actually considered awarding medals to soldiers for not shooting! Gates actually put terrorism and climate change in the same sentence. He attacked pay raises for our troops and health insurance for retirees. And on and on.

Gates has left a mess, a military beyond hollow, a disarmed America. Hillary would take us beyond hollow; only Donald Trump can fix this disaster.

Trump should wear Gates’ criticism in the Wall Street Journal as a badge of honor. Gates will join Robert McNamara in the annals of defense infamy.

I have long wondered why the tainted blood issue hasn't been brought up as part of the LGBT-military issue. I would not want to have to put pressure on a fellow soldier's wound if I thought his blood might be HIV-positive.

Like many longtime Washington insiders, Gates comes across as an urbane, sophisticated, thoughtful man. Also like many longtime Washington insiders, he puts his own image, prestige, and power ahead of the good of the country.

The biggest problem our country has is not systemic racism, it's systemic stupidity.

Gates has never earned his salary. He had some longevity because he was a faithful lap dog, not because of his body of work.
