Pull it out of the stock and make sure that it's not a salt gun. If it's not, then you're getting a superb commercial Mauser chambered for one of the most useful cartridges ever built.

Good tip. Sometimes you can see the damage along the stock line but not always. As long as it's not deeply pitted, it's still a good deal, you would just need to restock as nothing has ever been found that will fix the problem.
Commercial Mausers are the best deal going these days IMHO. I picked up a couple over the last two years at very nice prices and don't think anyone else even bid.
What fresh Hell is this?
