Has anyone tried Federals new Syntec round? It got pretty good reviews from the NRA magazine, but I can't find any around here. I e-mailed them to find out where I could get some and all they said was Cabela's. If what they advertise is true, it would be nice to not have to scrub the bore every time you did a little popping. I have no idea how effective they are, but if only for target practice, I would buy some.

Looks like a 'FN*J' redux of the old Nyclad line.

I had a 38 special nyclad from a 2 inch 38 not penetrate a pine tree. IIRC, I tossed them rest in the garbage.

I've seen pine trees that you couldn't penetrate with a 30-06 and a partition.

Had a friend who shot a guy with the old .38 Special Nyclad from a 4" barrel...he was not pleased with the results and bought a .44 Magnum to replace it...

not if you shoot them 3-4 times in the same spot with a 30-06 smile ,
sorry my post was poorly worded, the bullet did not break the surface much.
