I was working on a job where they use 1 ton bags of food grade salt and the bags they use make a great target for field points



The shrink wrap they use does really stick, but if you just use the bags wadded up they are perfect.

Well just replaced the Block fusion as it's pretty much shot out,broadheads are hell on any target.I got a good 6 or more years out of the target so no complaints.
Unfortunately this model is no longer made so I got the Block Black.Seems to be basically the same target sans black instead of tan. Doing some last minute tweaking and ramping up the practice. Season opens tomorrow but I'm hanging back a couple weeks...I've learned a few things over the years 1st being hunt smart.I won't bugger up my sets before the big guys are moving and heading towards pre rut. Exception to this rule is if I have a buck patterned on an early season food source and without apples this year that's not the case.

I just started shooting a crossbow, and so far I"m getting away with shooting at the archery butts in our local park. I made up about a 5" thick stack of thick cardboard boxes broken down and taped together over that to help slow 'em down. My bolts penetrate the cardboard and the bale to the point the fletchings are about an inch out from the cardboard. I hang three paper plate targets on the cardboard stack and just carry it with me to the range. Works fine.

The Morell bag target works great with field points. Two-finger arrow removal.
When my wife and I bought our crossbows, we took them to the archery range at my gun club. They have the huge, round excelsior (salt hay) butts that used to be the "gold standard" for field archery. Our arrows whistled through them like they weren't even there! Spent most of that afternoon searching for them.

I plan on making one of these soonish , shooting 150 & 200 grains single bevel broadheads into $140 gets expensive .
I'll just leave it at my lease and not worry about it.
