It was 76 dang degrees yesterday. In October. In Minnesota. I got a danged mosquito bite. In October. In Minnesota. Man, I wish it would cool off. I really want to go bow hunting, but I don't really want to have to immediately butcher a deer if I get one. I guess I'm waiting for it to cool off a bit. Either that or buy an old used fridge somewhere, so I could quarter a deer, knock the legs off, and fit it in a fridge for a day or so till I could butcher it on my own terms. I hate warm weather in fall. We really need a hard frost to get rid of the bugs.

I agree. It just doesn't feel like "hunting season". Here in the sandy soil of the south Jersey Pine Barrens, we're over-run with chiggers - tiny, red bugs that burrow under your skin, and make your life an itchy, burning, living hell for up to two weeks!
Doesn't much matter to me this season though. My boss is out with knee surgery, and I'm taking his place. Can't use any vacation time until November. Hopefully, "Jack Frost" may have paid us a visit by then.

Our bow season came in 3 weeks ago. It's been so damn hot, I just got out for the first time on Saturday. Even though it was raining, it was only 62 degrees.

It felt good to back in the saddle again. I saw 2 turkeys, a spike and a doe. It was still a little warm, so I wasn't gung ho to kill anything, it was just nice being there.

Now, if a monster buck came into range, the schit would have been on then.

It is 55 here now and calling for a high of 66. But mostly cloudy without rain. I have plans to go meet a bud at 3pm. for my first bowhunt of the year.

It looks like it will still be a warm week here, but cool off by the weekend. So next weekend should be good, and hopefully from there on out.

I do always have the option of taking the deer to the butcher shop if I have to......
