i purchased a cva wolf for my youngest son who decided late to hunt inline this weekend. mounted and bore sighted a scope then headed out to the range today, problem is the the gun only fires every couple times. tried different powder and primers with same outcome.. trigger spring seems weak. anyone advice quickly???? 209 primers or musket cap? Also, what powder and primers are you using?
I'd remove the barrel and check the firing pin bushing. The bushing should be flush with the frame. If its sunk in to much, it will cause the firing spring to not compress and come outward enough.

209 primers, and i started with blackhorn 209 then tried triple 7

Thanks for the advice bigblock455, i did that, along with modifying a pen spring and using it in place of the factory spring. so far, it has worked on the primers.

Thanks Dude! Yes, i bought one, but i cannot even get primers to fire each time. then i put them in my T/C and the same primers fire.

Clean it. The wolf firing pin gets sticky in a hurry.
There is a slot for a screw driver under the hammer, remove carefully so as not to lose the spring.

I have found wolf will make it longer between firing pin cleanings if I don't lube anything after cleaning

You can eliminate the blowback from the primer/load by either extending the firing pin retainer screw to a flush fit with the primer or by putting a very small o-ring into the bottom of the breech plug. I am currently fixing a friend's CVA Optima (first gen) that had a stuck firing pin. It sticks out enough to create a slam fire when closed.

well if you are still here, I'd say I am safe And my only CVA I have is an old Hawken, so I doubt they'd pay me to support a rifle they no longer make

Theres also a shim kit cva sells to correct any firing pin bushing that is installed to deep. Fix your firing pin issue and as always, I recommend hot primers like CCI-Mag and Federal 209A.
When used according to manual specs, there's nothing wrong with owning a CVA Wolf.
