To be fair Fourbore, my Sako94 was set up for benchrest. The factory trigger is excellent and the factory barrel is sub- 1/2 MOA with many type of ammo. The Jewell and Lilja tighten things up from there.

You say 1/2 moa, that is 0.250 center to center for groups fired at 50 yards.I will take that any day!

That is a very snappy rifle. I was the original owner.
Nice piece of wood, especially out in the sun.
Sold it to a friend ANIB many years ago, he just never shot it much so it ended up on the rack in Ennis. It did like those older WW 40 gr Power Points. Probably had < 1000 rounds through it, but the "connect" ratio was well over 90% on our local ground squirrels.
I got the Anschutz disease, which spread to him.

IIRC - there were some issues with that new Browning 1435 ft/s HP ammo in that rifle. Some cases were rupturing just above the rim.

That ammo was available this last spring, and we purchased a bunch of it. Shot great out of our Annnie 54/1710 rifles. Terminal performance was amazing. But not in that P94, especially when it got warm.

As 94s go, that one was very snappy looking and shot straight. Great stock configuration, full sized and was great for shooting out of and around the truck. One of those I probably should not have let go.

The P94S Sako is an amazing rifle. I have 2 Sporters that are the wife and my "go to" for squirrels. Try the Eley subsonic 40gr hollow points. Both of mine shoot sub 1/4 inch 5 shot groups at 50 yards. Both the wife and I do it so it has to be the rifles and ammo as we are not benchrest shooters. The only weak point I have found on the P94S is the ejector spring. If yours breaks, you can make one out of piano wire. I have the diagram somewhere. Congrats on a great rifle. LOOK OUT GROUND SQUIRRELS next year!

Daveinmt: Wow! What a small world, and pardon my slow reply - I have been up in the high country Hunting elk (gone for 7 days) and then I have been Deer Hunting each morning and most afternoons since!
I have as yet to find a flaw with your former Rifle - you and your friend sure kept it in perfect condition.
Thanks for the heads up on that Browning 1435 F.P.S. ammo - I saw some of it somewhere of recent.
I have already had one offer to buy the Rifle from one of my Gophering friends but I put him off.
Any idea as to what year it may have been manufactured (originally sold to you)?
Thanks again for the background and I will treat it "kindly" as you had.

Papalondog: Pardon my slow reply to you as well.
I have noted that Eley hollow-point ammo suggestion and will look for and try it.
I would appreciate a link or direction to a source for that ejector spring.
I am new to Sako rimfires!
1/4" groups at 50 yards IS impressive with a rimfire.
Keep up the good work.

Howdy,

I'll soon be in the P94S club. This will arrive in @2 weeks. Looking forward to seeing how it compares to my 54, 541T Sporter, Win 52 sporter repro. and Rem 581/582.
