Lets see your guys sporter weight say up to 9lbs ready to rock long range hunting rigs. Maybe some details on them and what animals you use them on and how far you will stretch their legs. Im in the preplanning stage of another build and am just looking for some inspiration.

Stainless 700 SA
3x Bartlein 2b barrels chambered in 22-250 8" twist, 6.5x47 Lapua, and .308.
Manners EH3
Shown with 3-12 LRHS, but currently has a 3-9 SWFA SS on it and that's likely what will stay on it.
Timney 510 trigger
PT&G bottom metal
Burris XTB bases
SWFA rings.

Will shoot steel and varmints as far as I can see it and deer out to 600 or so.

GAP Extreme Hunter 6.5 SAUM w/ S&B PMII 10x42. 8.75 lbs as it sits.

Shorter one is another lighter 6.5 SAUM. Bartlein 2b contour 22" barrel. Manners EH-8 stock. 6lbs 15 oz as it sits. Put a VX-6 2-12x42 on it and it's 8.0 lbs even.

A couple... They all shoot well enough to get out to min impact velocity for each- which for none is less than 600 yards.

Remington M7 243win with a Bansner Sheep Hunter stock, SWFA SS 3-9x42mm, EGW base and rings. 6lbs, 14ounces.
Use it on anything. Went elk hunting in Idaho and will go again in MT in November. This year using 95gr Berger VLD's.

And there's about 50 others. Just about any normal hunting rifle with the correct scope and bullets can be used quite well way beyond "normal hunting ranges".....

Recent rifle. Never killed anything with a 6.5 of any sort but the cartridge got such rave reviews I figured I'd get one. Not sure what Id use it on but deer and varmints sound like a good idea.

This is a Rem 700 SA with a 25" Benchmark barrel chambered 6.5 Creedmoor; Echols Shrike stock and NF SHV scope with Leopold DD's. Never weighed it.

I wish I had built this one 25 years ago instead of five or so years, when I was younger and doing a lot more hunting because I really like this rifle and cartridge. Gene Simillion custom M70 chambered 7mm Mashburn Super with 24" Krieger barrel. It weighs a shade under 8 pounds as it's seen here. I shoot mostly 162 Amax in it but also use 160 NPT, AB, and Bitterroots.

The OP has had a Mashburn so this won't give him any new ideas... smile

Aalf, what load are you using in the 6.5? I've got a longer throat on mine and using 136 lapuas and 4451 in it.

My reamer has .123 freebore, which is great for the 123/130 class bullets that I planned for. I shoot 130 VLD's with Varget, .015" in the lands with an OAL of 2.750", at 2820 in a 23" Brux. I went to 2950, but the accuracy wasn't there.

Pretty basic for me with a simple theme of bulletproof on components. Tikka t3, SWFA 3x9 epoxied into a deadnutz base that was epoxied to the action after opening it up for 8x40 screws. I have never had the zero move. I have taken it to 1250 yards on steel but prefer to have a max of 600 in the field. I have stretched it to a little over 700 once on a big pig but it was not something I want to do again. Current load is the 140 Berger at about 2900fps.

This one is about a pound heavier sans bipod than spec'd in the OP, but it works great with a 195 Hybrid at 2900 fps...

Rem 700 squared and trued
PTG 1-piece bolt
Krieger 8" twist 6-groove #5 at 26"
XLR Evo chassis
TT trigger
.338LM AICS mag
CTR buttstock
Hogue Ergo grip (not in pic)
SS 10x MQ
XTR Sig rings (not in pic)
EGW HD 20MOA base
7WSM
[Linked Image]

This one comes in at a bit over 7.5 lbs. Also 7WSM with 162AM at 3075 fps and 195 Hybrid at 2830 fps.

Kimber 8400 Montana
Ti TAC bolt handle
SS 3-9x42 Mil/MD
XTR Sig rings
Warne Maxima bases filed to fit the rings

I literally have the same rifle and scope setup and shoot the same bullet at the same velocity, but I have it in an Edge...
