I want to load some 180 gr Speer flat nose for whitetails. I have TAC, RL15, H4895. Let me know what works for you with this bullet in the 358 Win.

Thanks; John

Kota -

May not be much help but....

I've had a few 358s but it's been a while. I loaded/shot/ and killed deer with the Speer 180 FN bullets and it/they worked quite well.

I used H 335 and was getting +/- 2800 fps. Deer did NOT like it.

IMR and H 4895 both were in close second place velocity wise.

Accuracy was very good IMO and for deer hunting.

Good luck

Jerry

Kota, any of those three will get the job done, but TAC will give top velocity.

I've loaded that Speer 180 bullet in a bunch of different 35's but only shot deer with it in the Whelen. It worked fine, although the wound channels were a little narrower than I expected. That's not necessarily bad, just an observation. It has always been a pretty accurate bullet in my rifles though.

What was your powder charge with TAC (or range of min./max. powder charge)and the 180's.
Do you use standard or magnum primers with the TAC?
I am loading for a BLR

Thanks; John
