Older? A minimum of 27yrs old since it's marked W. Germany...
I owned a Zeiss Dialyt 1.5-6x 42mm, also W. German marked for a few years. Great optics, but the long erector tube design made mounting on short action receivers a problem. Scope held its value when I sold it.
But.... Unless you get a screaming deal, and are sure you won't use it on an AR or other short bridge receiver action, best think long about there probably being NO Warranty. All the Euro zone gear has to have a definite warranty period term in years. Zeiss is 25yrs. S&B was going to open a USA warranty center; might contact them and find out how they'll handle a repair or cleaning.
S&B hunting scopes are in production and relatively affordable; about like Zeiss. Old scopes are rarely a "deal" unless they come with a rifle. Things like reticle movements in centimeters rather than moa and maybe an oddball mount; pretty hard to find 26mm rings these days...
are real considerations.
