My Mom is 80 years old and was gone to the Grocery store.
When she came home she found her house trashed .

The thieves had climbed over the fence in her backyard and then broke a window and crawled through a window.

She is going to have bars installed on the back windows
but I want some additional security for her.

I would like some type of security camera or cameras and also to set off an alarm and contact the local police dept.

She has no internet.

I am not very savvy about what would be a good way to accomplish this.

I would sure appreciate help on what I need to do to accomplish this.

Thanks
Craig

I have had a simplisafe system for about a year and like it. Easily installed, no service contracts and is wireless linked to a monitoring company for a reasonable monthly fee. Gave up on ADT and others due to a 2-5 year contract. Check them out.

+ 1 on the dog. Nothing wrong with the electric and camera types, listen to the good folk here who know all about them, but that's not me, but nothing wrong with having that in conjunction with a dog. Most old folks could use the extra company. We've probably all seen dogs hauled around to nursing homes and hospitals on the news. We even looked past several nursing homes for my dad (who passed last year at 94), until we found one that would allow his Maltese to come too. I'll tell you, no matter how bad the Alzheimers got, he could remember and love his dog. And even a small noisy dog, they say, will deter most thieves, but I'm sure a big noisy one that wasn't all bark would work even better.
