Echols Legend in 300 WM and topped with a S&B.
If I have to loan something out, give them what I wouldn't miss.....
(grin)
Honestly tho - never had to loan a rifle. Don't know that if I did, I'd be sure to have one designated as a loaner. I loan you a gun, you have to be pretty special to me so you'll get whatever works in the cabinet.

I came across an offered NIB XL7 270 at about the WM's RAR closeout price +/tax and jumped on it. Fits my needs for a brush/truck/loaner perfectly, and will wear a 3x9x40 Buckmaster initially. If it shoots as well as it's reputation sez it will...I'll sell some of the stuff I'm tired of looking at and buy Lots more of these Marlin X guns. I'm way past the gotta have some super spendy shooter to impress the other yahoo's in camp with. Ron

any rifle under $500 in value.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Your post makes sense now. I forgot that you're a dumbass, liberal Yankee. You are the enemy, you are a Fudd. I'm certain you are voting for Clinton. Ya know I always figured "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" didn't just apply to those who could afford it. Like it or not we are about the only 1st world country that doesn't view basic healthcare as a basic human right...frankly that's [bleep] up.
Maybe it's just because I like to think for myself, not just blindly follow a party line but, in this case, Sanders is right on the money. The plan he put forward is exactly what I've been saying for years. OOh looks like cowboytim has some splainin to do. Another campfire socialist. Damn

Politics has no place in the rifle forum. That said, I hate a liberal.
I view rifles as "things". Said things have to be either valuable or somehow precious as I don't want them damaged, or precision instruments that I have set up a certain way, and don't want to ever have to fuuk with again to get it that way.
Majority of my guns are neither. A friend can borrow them, I don't give a $hit......

Perhaps I'm too pragmatic but I don't understand why someone would purposely buy a POS for the sole purpose of owning a POS to loan to others. Scott - IF I had a 94, I'd loan it. Jerry Hint ! Jerry

I'd "lone" them some sales fliers from Cabaels, Gander Mt. and Fleet Farm. I have nothing that is "loanable" and I would refuse due to the liability issue.

Damn
He doesn't have to explain anything - his post did that pretty well. To paraphrase what Reagan said, that is isn't that dumbocrats are wrong, it's just that they know so much that isn't true. Anyone that thinks socialism/communism works hasn't taken the time to study how economics really works. To paraphrase Margaret Thatcher, the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. She was precisely right but I'll add that socialism kills the human spirit to endeavor as well. More takers with fewer creators describes a civilization in decline.
Let me get this straight, I vote Pro Life and Pro Gun, period. And yes, if you read my post, you know I also believe that any civilized country has a responsibility to look after the peoples basic human rights, one of which I believe to be BASIC health care. I though I guy was allowed to have an opinion, if my politics are so important to whether a military sporter of a bolt action 30-30 would make a good loner/truck gun well here they are. I believe in a flat income tax, everyone pay the same no exceptions. I believe the 2nd amendment is perfectly clear and any restrictions on gun ownership are unconstitutional. I believe that people need the right to Unionize, but there needs to be a reasonable system of checks and balances, neither the Union or the Employer should hold all the power. Life begins at conception. Abortion is murder, nothing less. I believe that people should have access to decent and affordable schools, don't believe in free rides. I believe that we haven't signed a good trade deal in my lifetime and that needs to change. I work hard for everything I get, Love God, family and country in that order. And that's where I stand, if you don't like it... Good For You. I hate talking politics, I generally just piss everybody on both sides off.

Would depend on whom I'm loaning it to.. Just anybody, My very first deer rifle, a '44 BCD K98. Impossible to F it up. Yet it will still take the game you are hunting. Family might get something a little more "dear" to me.

Remington 700 Ruger American Savage xp trophyhunter Take your pick.... Wait, this is if I had a "loaner" rifle... I don't have POS rifles to loan out, so that takes care of that problem...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Well to be honest, I don't consider the '44 BCD K98 a POS.. It is actually pretty good. I just know it is no longer a "collector" as it has a Bishop stock. I know and trust this rifle, it is very, very hard to do something really wrong. I would provide the ammo as well. Like BSA I don't have any POS rifles in the safe. Just a couple that are not perhaps worth as much as others.

If someone owned NO rifle, and wanted to hunt, and wasn't a kid/newby, I figure he's a loser that can't manage his own life, so is definitely NOT getting one of my rifles.
I just offered a 23 year old friend a beautiful 1959 .243 when it became obvious his Savage 7 mag needed ammo development before he continued hunting deer. He has one week left to fill his tag. I don't loan a rifle to just anyone.
The better solution was to bring him home and develop some ammunition for his 7 mag, which we did in about 2 hours. Win/win.

This thread reminds me of the e-mail FWP sent out stating you can donate your hunting license to a disabled vet. LMAO. Who the fugk can't afford a hunting license? And if you can't afford the license, I have to wonder WTF you're going to be hunting with.
